Glitch on the Go #1

By Kip Konner

Roving reporter Kip Konner here with our new “Glitch on the Go” feature. Every issue we’ll select random Glitchen on the streets of Ur, ask them a few questions and share their answers with you, our readers.

For this issue, I decided to wander Groddle Meadow, looking for Glitchen to interview. In Gregarious Grange, I asked a Glitch if he’d like to answer a few questions for the Glitchen ImaginatUr. However, he didn’t believe my explanation of what the ImaginatUr is and, instead, thought I was a No-No dealer. His three friends then approached me in a somewhat threatening manner and talked about my “dealing on their turf.” I hadn’t expected trouble of this kind (I wasn’t on a secret mission!) so I wasn’t carrying my combat plank. Instead, I wished them fair sailing and skipped on to another street, in search of someone who wanted to be interviewed. Their loss!

In Tillamurry Hurry, I caught up with someone I had seen pass while I was conversing with the Gregarious Gang. Starrkittyface, a level 33 player, was more than willing to be interviewed and, in fact, had already heard of the ImaginatUr and was flattered that I asked. We settled in, I got her picture and we started the interview.

My first question: “Lots of Glitchen change their looks on a regular basis. How often do you change yours (if at all) and what determines your new look?”

Starrkittyface: This is only the second look I have ever had. A good friend, Flanuora, got me a subscription for Glitchmas. I probably won’t be changing my look any time soon. = ) I have based my look on how I would dress/look in real life so I stick with one.

Kip: Who is the coolest Glitch you’ve met and why?

Starrkittyface: Ronin Elf! He is hilarious and friendly and extraordinarily kind! He helped me purchase a 50k [house] when I was a broke Glitch and helped me learn to make my own currants.  =)

We next discussed our goals within game. She says that, alongside official quests, she wants to eventually accumulate all the Icons, learn Mining 5, collect all the Cubimals, reach level 60 and (maybe someday) make 1000 Sparkle Powders and give them away in Global Chat: “All of Ur would sparkle for weeks afterwards!” In addition, she constantly upholds the goals of making new friends and supporting our community.

After exchanging “adds” and wishing Starrkittyface a fond farewell, I tracked my next player, someone who had skipped through Tillamurry Hurry while I was talking to Starrkittyface. I caught up with him in Eglesgown Wanks.

Samurai Mack is a new player and was perfectly amenable to being interviewed once he understood what the ImaginatUr is. I quickly found out just how new a player he is.

Kip: How often do you change your look (if at all) and what determines your new look?

Samurai Mack:  This is my first “look” since I have only been playing for 7 days. I might retain the image for a bit. I was invited by a friend on another game and I started playing New Year’s Eve.

When asked who the coolest Glitch he had met was, he admitted that he hasn’t met many, since he keeps to himself, “but CoffeeSnob is one friendly Glitch.” They met when she bought one of his gems at Auction and he sent her a thank-you note. What a charming and polite thing to do! And a great way to make a new friend.

His goals, when asked, were a rotating list of three things: increasing XP, mastering Achievements, and travelling. He said he tries to reach one goal every game day. I asked if he had any social goals, as well. “Social aspect–might take a while: Samurai be the shy type. LOL!” I suggested that he’d make an ideal secret agent.

I could tell he was getting a bit anxious to be on his way so we quickly exchanged “adds” and away he went, lurking in shadows and hiding behind the shrubbery.

As luck would have it, my next subject passed just as I finished with Samurai Mack and I followed her to Welldale. Thebombmom agreed to an interview and we had a nice, brief chat.

She said that she changes her look “every couple of weeks,” keeping to the free items in Wardrobe, because she gets “tired of the same look.” She liked my hat and I liked her antennae. “A guy named dotcom” is her coolest Glitch because he is “super nice! Treated me good with gifts and stuff!” Her goals are simple: “Just having fun…getting badges and visiting everywhere.”

Thebombmom quickly went about her business, headed for Langden Abbey, and I retired to my palatial estate to pen this article.

Keep your eyes open, Glitchen: you never know when you’ll be the next “Glitch on the Go!”
